The President's Message
Dear ACC Houston Friends and Members,
As we begin our 38th year of the Houston Chapter of the Association of Corporate Counsel, I am excited and honored to serve as your chapter President this coming year. First, let me thank and recognize our members for your engagement, and our sponsors for your generosity and support. It is because of each of you that we continue to be recognized for our achievements on a national level.
Reflecting on this past year, ACC Houston owes a huge thank you to our dedicated Board, under the outstanding leadership of 2020-2021 President, Chantel Jordan. This past year, we enjoyed a robust schedule of events, with significantly increased attendance, and we once again received the esteemed Gold Chapter of Distinction at the ACC Annual Meeting held each October.
This coming year, we look forward to continuing to serve our network of more than 1,000 members. Through the support of our sponsors, members will again have the opportunity to network, learn, and have fun at our 60-70 events. As always, our year will be packed with 50+ hours of continuing legal education, socials, events focused on advancing and promoting diversity and women, career development seminars, opportunities to give back to our community, and more.
Perhaps the most defining factor of our time is the COVID-19 pandemic. We have never lost sight of the fact we are a community of people first, and your health and safety are paramount. As such, the COVID-19 Task Force we established in 2020 remains in place and continues to both advise the Board on local and national mandates and guidelines, and help us plan events and activities with a safety-first mindset.
With safety in mind, we also recognize that our world has changed. On a professional level, our landscape is rapidly evolving and keeping up with these changes is not optional. On a personal level, we have a desire to reconnect socially. There is no better time to participate as a member of the chapter– online and in person, as available. I encourage everyone to maximize the benefits of belonging to ACC Houston, attend our events, meet new and old friends and colleagues of the Bar, learn from our elite sponsors and speakers who are masters in their class, and get involved. We have a dedicated group of Officers and Board Members, who welcome your questions and engagement. If you are new to in-house or to ACC as an association, now is a great time to become a Member, and experience all the opportunities to learn and connect. And for returning members, we encourage you to take the first step in getting more involved by submitting a Volunteer Interest Form.
On behalf of the Board, we are looking forward to an exciting year ahead, to continuing to serve our members and sponsors, developing our ACC Houston community, and deepening our relationship with the greater Houston community.
Wishing you and yours good health.
Sincerely,
Nicole Moss
President, ACC Houston Chapter
