I am excited to be the Chair of the New to In-House Committee, who set the strategy and direction for the New to In-House Network ("the Network"). The Network is designed to be a place where lawyers who are in the early stages of their career or have recently made the transition from private practice to the in-house legal world can gain additional support, benefit from tailored learning opportunities and have the opportunity to acquire knowledge from and network with other lawyers who are in a similar position. The aim of the Network is to ensure that those who commence in or move into an in-house legal role have a smooth transition and develop an appropriate support network within the in-house legal community to allow them to thrive.

The Network will be launched at the ACC Australia In-House Counsel Days with the New to In-House Roundtable events! The roundtable topic 'how to be an effective contributor to commercial conversations' has been identified as a critical skill legal counsel should have to be successful in their role. The opportunity to join the facilitated sessions will allow participants to ask questions, share their experiences and learn from others in the room about the best ways to learn about the commercial realities of your business, how to work with internal and external stakeholders and tips and tricks to get buy-in rather than be viewed as a boulder blocking the road.

We value peer-to-peer learning and believe that some of the most valuable development opportunities come from collaborating and communicating with those around us. With knowledgeable facilitators to drive the conversations, we believe that our members will be able to walk away from our roundtables with key outcomes to implement upon returning to work.

We can’t wait to have you join us for these roundtable events and future New to In-House Network events across the country in the coming months.
